Pelangi Bridge on Jalan Dr. Saharjo Beautified Using Plastic Waste

The Manggarai Urban Village Karang Taruna youth group together with residents from RW 05 and 12 have decorated the Pelangi Bridge on Jalan Dr. Saharjo I, Tebet, South Jakarta using plastic waste.

Our purpose is to make the residents' settlements more beautiful and comfortable

They collect the used mineral water bottles and gallons to make various decorations and character pots to beautify the bridge.

Manggarai Urban Village Karang Taruna Chair, Yudi Hartanto said the bridge was previously not well-organized with the existence of sand carts, motorbike parking, and birdcages owned by residents around the bridge area.

Seeing this condition, the Karang Taruna and Chairs of RW 05 and 12 held a meeting with locals to conduct arrangements.

"Alhamdulillah, they support us to arrange the bridge area with the concept of decoration using plastic waste," he expressed, Thursday (3/3).

They would also make useful activities for the residents of RW 05 and RW 12 by making reading gardens and various other activities," he added.

Manggarai Urban Village Acting Secretary, Haerani added the same concept was also spotted in other RWs.

"Our purpose is to make the residents' settlements more beautiful and comfortable," he admitted.
